Mark Webber – Winner

«I feel really good, it’s always nice to win. The battle with Sebastian wasn’t very difficult at the end because he had a problem, but even so, my pace was very good and I was comfortable in the car. It’s a nice way to end the year. I was happy with the car and setting the fastest laps at the end is something that pleases me.

Looking back, it wasn’t my best season, but neither was it the worst. I had average starts this year and couldn’t take advantage of others’ misfortunes or put myself in a position to win fairly, which is always what you wish for, but in motorsport, you take the victories that come to you.

So, it was a very important victory for me today and finishing on a high note is nice for the team. I really enjoyed the last laps. It’s a superb circuit for the team, and we have won the last three races held here.

Sebastian Vettel – 2nd

«I got the message that we had a problem, which was a shame because we had a great start. Then, it was clear that I had to shift up earlier to save the gearbox. I was hoping it would settle itself, so I kept pushing, but that didn’t happen and then the goal was simply to reach the finish. »

Mark had a great race and he deserves to win. I finish second and I’m happy to leave with a trophy. It’s a good end to the season, finishing with both cars and achieving the double is really good. I would have loved to win the race, but we still had a fantastic season. It’s really incredible – before the season we thought we had a competitive car and we thought we could win races, but it has been phenomenal.

The team has been flawless most of the time and they have raised their level compared to the past two years. We love what we do and it’s nice to be in the garage every day and see everyone smiling. That’s the main thing – we love what we do and we are true enthusiasts.

Christian Horner – Team Principal of Red Bull Racing

« It was an incredible race. Finishing the year with a one-two is a magnificent conclusion to this season. The race was dominated by our attempts to solve Sebastian’s problem; he did an incredible job keeping his car intact until the end of the race. »

«The problem appeared on lap 5, as the gearbox was losing oil. Temperatures quickly rose, but he adapted his driving style and did a phenomenal job to get the car to the finish line. Marks wasn’t far behind, and Sebastian had to give up the lead of the race.»

But Mark had a fantastic race and it’s a well-deserved victory for what has been an incredible year. Winning 12 Grand Prix and retaining both world championship titles is fantastic and it’s the perfect moment to thank every person on the team for all their work.

I would also like to thank Renault and all our partners, and of course, a special thanks to Red Bull and Mr. Mateschitz for their unwavering support throughout the year, without which none of these results would have been possible.
