Sunday: Glock disappointed with his race, d’Ambrosio delighted
Timo Glock experienced a difficult race; he had to retire after his first pit stop due to a poorly secured wheel. The German driver is nonetheless happy with his season. His teammate Jérôme d'Ambrosio was delighted with his race, where he managed to outperform the HRTs. He enjoyed his season with Virgin and the working relationships with his team, although he is not expected to be retained by the British-Russian team in 2012.

Jérome d’Ambrosio – 19th
I think today it was a great race and a nice way to finish the season for me. We did a good job yesterday during qualifying and today it was probably one of my best races. I am happy with what happened here in Brazil because I love this track. I am also delighted to finish in the HRT – it is clearly very positive to end the season like this. I want to thank the whole team for their work, and I really enjoyed being able to work with them this year.
Timo Glock – Retirement
« It was a very disappointing way to end the season. It’s really a shame to have to retire after losing the left rear wheel following my first stop, but unfortunately, these things happen. It’s not really the way I would have liked to finish the season, but no matter what, I want to thank the team for all the efforts made this season. It has been really enjoyable working with them. »
John Booth – Director of the Marussia Virgin Racing team
« Our two drivers made excellent starts, and if Timo hadn’t been on the left in the first corner, I’m sure they would both have passed the HRTs. Jerome had another solid race and proved that yesterday’s qualifying positions were an anomaly for us this season. »
We would like to apologize to Timo for the incident during his pit stop that cost him any chance of finishing the season on a high note, which would have reflected his commitment throughout the season.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the entire team for their work and enthusiasm during what has been a long and challenging season. We may have suffered a final disappointment today, but we have succeeded in laying down important foundations for a brighter future.
I would also like to thank our partners for their unwavering support and we look forward to rewarding their trust in the measures we are taking to ensure that very positive moments will come soon. A big thank you as well to Cosworth and Pirelli with whom we have shared very good working relationships this year.
