Interlagos could change its appearance in 2013
The paddock and pit lane of the Interlagos circuit could be relocated as part of an infrastructure modernization of the circuit expected to take place by 2013.

The layout of Interlagos could be modified to improve safety on the track following two deaths during races this year. New runoff areas are expected to be added starting in 2012, and a new pit lane entry should also be completed. However, more significant changes could be made to modernize the circuit.
Interlagos could do what Silverstone has already done, create a new paddock and new pits at another location on the track. The new pit lane could be located on the other straight of the circuit – where drivers will be able to activate DRS during the race this Sunday. Claudio Ito, the circuit’s manager, hopes that these new pits can be ready by 2013.
«The municipality, which owns the circuit, has an idea to build a new pit lane, garages, and everything else. They could move the entire pit area to the straight of the circuit with a new entrance, a new exit, and new buildings, » Ito told The National.
Claudio Ito also wanted to clarify that these changes were not related to improving safety on the circuit but were more about a desire to modernize the infrastructure.
« It’s not because of security, but more because we understand the need for teams to have more space for their operations. I hope everything could be ready by 2013, » added Ito.
