There is still one Grand Prix left to race this weekend, but Mark Webber is certain to be the driver with the most fastest laps this season. The Australian driver has set the fastest lap in a Grand Prix six times this year – compared to three times for the three drivers who are in second place in this ranking: Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Sebastian Vettel.

The Australian driver received the DHL Fastest Lap yesterday. It’s the first time he has won this trophy, which was presented to him yesterday in Sao Paulo by Joakim Thrane, DHL’s head in Brazil, and Christian Danner, a former F1 driver.

The DHL Fastest Lap Trophy represents speed and excellence, two values that align well with DHL. Mark Webber’s success in achieving this award also clearly shows that no team can succeed without the hard work and total commitment of each member, which is very important to us as international specialists. We would like to thank Mark for his role in making Formula 1 such a spectacle in 2011, and we congratulate him on winning the DHL Fastest Lap 2011, Joakim Thrane stated.

Ranking of drivers by the number of fastest laps set this season

1 – Mark Webber (6)

2 – Lewis Hamilton (3)

2 – Sebastian Vettel (3)

2 – Jenson Button (3)

5 – Felipe Massa (2)

This Trophy was established by DHL in 2007, Mark Webber succeeds in the record list to Kimi Räikkönen (twice winner), Sebastian Vettel, and Fernando Alonso. The Finnish driver is also the only driver to have won the DHL Fastest Lap and the world championship title in the same year – it was in 2007.
