Lewis Hamilton will not change his driving style
Often criticized for his aggressive driving, Lewis Hamilton states that he will not change his racing style.
Hamilton has already received six penalties since the beginning of the season, and he has been involved in numerous collisions, notably with Felipe Massa, as was the case again during the recent Indian Grand Prix.
Being the subject of many criticisms, the British driver nevertheless claims that he will not change his approach to races and that no one can dictate how he should drive: « I don’t think I should change my way of driving. Who can tell me how I should drive? I’m not telling you how to dress! I don’t think I have the right to tell anyone what they should do, and I don’t think anyone has the right to tell me how I should drive. »
If the 2008 world champion seems annoyed, his team, once again, rushes to his aid and continues to support him as Martin Whitmarsh states: “He is very analytical. He is also very serious and tries to do the best job possible by being even too hard on himself. I have known Lewis for a very long time, and he has been like that since his first steps in karting. That’s his way of being, his psychology. That’s how he motivates himself.”
Hamilton had cited personal issues (especially relationship problems…) to justify his poor season. The pressure within his own team, in comparison to the good results of his teammate Jenson Button, also seems to be affecting him psychologically.
He stated, however, that he would clear his surroundings and focus on his driving to approach 2012 in the best way possible.
