Pirelli will test new tires in Abu Dhabi
Pirelli has decided to bring new tires to Abu Dhabi for teams to test and provide feedback. The Italian manufacturer has been working for several months on new tires for 2012, and the tests conducted by the teams will help validate or not the direction taken.

Paul Hembery, the head of competition at Pirelli, revealed that the Italian manufacturer will use the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as well as next week’s young driver tests to test new tires that could be used by F1 teams next season.
At this point in the season, we’re focusing on our tire choices from last year, and that’s why we will bring new rubber compounds for testing here and for the young driver tests, Paul Hembery shared.
Given the limited testing opportunities for Pirelli and the fact that both championships are settled, the opportunity is perfect for Pirelli, especially since the Yas Marina circuit is familiar to all teams.
With the very limited testing opportunities during the season, it is important for us to collect as much information as possible to develop our strategy for 2012, as we will be providing slightly different tires from those of this year.
We know the Yas Marina circuit well, so we are confident that the choice of tires made for the race should comply with the characteristics of the track. Abu Dhabi is a truly fantastic circuit with great overtaking opportunities, so we are excited to celebrate our first anniversary here, added Hembery.
