The 2012 calendar ratified by the F1 Commission

Concerns about several Grand Prix for 2012 have emerged in recent weeks, prompting the teams to meet to discuss a possible change to the 2012 calendar during the Formula 1 Commission. But ultimately, from the information coming out of this meeting, no changes were made and the proposed calendar was confirmed.

Several Grand Prix races were in doubt for 2012, notably Bahrain – as the political situation was not yet fully resolved. The teams were not yet sure they could go there, but it should indeed be the case as the race has been confirmed.

The South Korean Grand Prix, which held its inaugural edition last year, was also under scrutiny due to financial difficulties, but it was confirmed during the F1 Commission meeting held today in Geneva.

Last Grand Prix in limbo, the United States Grand Prix in Austin. Construction of the circuit and related infrastructure seems to have been delayed, and some observers are even talking about a possible postponement to 2013, but the race has been confirmed on the 2012 Formula 1 season calendar.

The F1 Commission has therefore approved the initially proposed 2012 calendar, despite doubts about certain races. Here is what the 2012 Formula 1 season calendar should look like, provided no changes are made in the coming months.
