Schumacher champion of the first round

Michael Schumacher is an excellent driver, despite criticism from some. The seven-time world champion proves it on the track, because even if he doesn't always qualify very well, he makes up for it in the race. He is the driver who overtakes the most on the first lap of a Grand Prix this season.

Michael Schumacher hasn’t lost his splendor even though Nico Rosberg manages to regularly get ahead of him. But Schumi is a fighter, and even when he starts far back on the grid, he does everything to move up, as evidenced by the statistic for the most overtakes in the first lap established by the German site Sport1.

It is Schumacher who leads the ranking, with 42 overtakes in the opening laps since the beginning of the season. He is quite ahead of Sébastien Buemi, second with 32 overtakes, and Kamui Kobayashi, third with 23 overtakes.

Niki Lauda, who has often criticized Schumacher since his return, believes that the Mercedes GP driver has lost none of his talent. It’s simply his car that doesn’t allow him to fully express himself.

Schumacher is constantly improving. But no one is interested because he doesn’t have a competitive car. I hope it will be different next year, Lauda stated.

But strictly accounting-wise, Nico Rosberg has been better than his illustrious elder this season – 75 points for Keke Rosberg’s son against 70 for Michael Schumacher, who is really not far from his teammate, promising a great fight in 2012 between the two men at the wheel of the MGP W03 – if neither changes teams by then.
