Lance Stroll had a weekend full of obstacles in Mexico. The Canadian encountered a problem right from the FP2 session. One of the two front tires got stuck on the car, forcing the driver to remain in the garage for a while. Eventually, an unorthodox intervention from a mechanic was needed, who hammered the wheel to free it. As for the qualifying, Stroll was eliminated in Q1 with only the 19th fastest time.

Furthermore, the changes made to his car forced him to start from the pit lane for Sunday’s race. It was very frustrating, do you really believe in Murphy’s Law? Mike Krack said about the issues encountered on Stroll’s car. Why does it always affect the same car… It was a stupid item on the wheel nut that cost him so much time.

An interesting racing pace.

The task was looking complicated for Lance Stroll. With a pit lane start and his recent performances, the race did not look promising for the Canadian. However, he was able to build on his last race in Austin. The 25-year-old driver had scored his first points since the summer break at the Circuit of the Americas.

In Mexico, Stroll demonstrated an interesting pace in a challenging context. Although he was forced to retire, Mike Krack praised the Canadian’s return to form. “I think he had a nice boost of confidence after Austin,” said the Aston Martin manager.

He was really going full throttle all the time. Plus, it was his birthday. So maybe he had a little extra motivation. But I think you could see that he is a hard worker. He lost the DRS to Valtteri Bottas, then gradually made his way back to try to catch up with the Finn. He never gave up and I find that quite impressive. He really tried to make the most of the situation. There was still one point to take in the whole pack with Nico Hülkenberg, the Alpines and Bottas. We tried to get it, and he was there trying to grab it.

Lance Stroll is in 11th place in the driver’s standings before the start of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
