Friday: Contrasting day for Toro Rosso

The first day of testing at the Indian GP was different for the two Toro Rosso drivers; while Sébastien Buemi managed to achieve great things during the day's two free practice sessions, it was not the case for Jaime Alguersuari. The Spanish driver damaged his car during the first practice session by hitting a barrier, and he was not comfortable with his STR6 throughout the day. He hopes to improve things by tomorrow by working on the car's setup with his engineers.

Sébastien Buemi – 9th and 10th

It’s always exciting to run on a new circuit for the first time and today I managed to cover a lot of laps without encountering any problems with the car, so I was able to push it to the limit, which is always a good thing. I think we have everything we need in terms of data and understanding to prepare for qualifying and the race. I’m really happy with my day, the car was reliable and the team did a great job. Now it’s up to us to make sure we qualify well. As for performance, we hope to continue what we saw in Korea two weeks ago. The track is quite similar here compared to what we had in the simulator. It’s a beautiful circuit, and I’m happy to be here and hope there will be many spectators on Saturday and Sunday.

Jaime Alguersuari – 16th and 14th

The circuit seems really good and it’s a pleasure to drive. The lap times suggest it’s a short circuit, but that’s because it’s actually fast, making it an interesting track for drivers. We tried some setups today but I wasn’t comfortable with them and found it difficult to control the car well on the straights. I’m not comfortable and felt like I was on the edge. This morning, I went off, lost control, and hit a barrier with the rear at turn 9. The guys did a great job repairing it before the start of the second session. I am confident that I will be better in the car tomorrow to improve our position.
