Friday: Lotus Renault has work to do on the aero

The Lotus Renault team did not have a very productive day, because even though Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov were able to test the wet and intermediate tires, there is still work to be done from an aerodynamic perspective on the R31 to improve the overall performance of the car. Both LRGP drivers also hope to have a rain-free day tomorrow to test things and work on the setups of their cars for the race.

Vitaly Petrov – 22nd and 11th

«The whole day took place under the rain. Our single-seater struggles a bit in these conditions because we still need to find the right aerodynamic settings, so we spent quite a bit of time this afternoon trying to find the right settings. We did a lot of driving this afternoon, which will help us do better tomorrow, so I remain optimistic. We were able to do many installation laps with rain tires as well, which gives us an idea of the grip level of these tires. For now, the car is functioning normally. Tomorrow is another day; let’s hope it will be dry! »

Bruno Senna – 21st and 15th

There’s not much to say about this morning except that it was frustrating for all the drivers not to be able to go out and set a time. This afternoon, it was a good thing to have a little track time, even though we still have some issues with the car’s balance. Hopefully, we can fix that, but we need to look at how to improve our aerodynamics; otherwise, we’ll have more problems this weekend. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a dry day tomorrow so that we can practice in conditions similar to what we should have on Sunday for the race.
