Alguersuari is not thinking about 2012 yet
Jaime Alguersuari doesn't yet know if he will continue with Team Toro Rosso in 2012, primarily because there are four contenders for two seats - Alguersuari, Buemi, Ricciardo, and Vergne, but also because he hasn't started discussions with Red Bull about his future. The Spanish driver prefers to focus on the end of the season for now.

The Toro Rosso team’s duo of drivers is far from being well-known – the current drivers, Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi, appear to still be in the running for a seat, but they face two other rivals, Daniel Ricciardo, who debuted in F1 this season with HRT, and Jean-Eric Vergne, who will participate in test sessions aboard the STR6 during the final races of the season.
Alguersuari also revealed in the Spanish press that he has not yet started discussions with the Toro Rosso team for next season, as the young Spaniard prefers to focus initially on the end of the current season.
«We haven’t talked about a contract for next year or about my future yet. The most important thing is to focus on the end of the season, » Jaime Alguersuari told the Spanish newspaper Marca.
Jaime Alguersuari also expressed delight with the developments made by the Toro Rosso team to the STR6 in recent races, and he believes the new features have brought a boost in performance to his car. He even hopes to catch up with the Sauber team in the constructors’ championship, the Swiss team being 7th in the standings with a seven-point lead over Scuderia Toro Rosso.
The team has managed to take a step forward. I think we can continue like this and try to attack Sauber, who is just ahead of us in the constructors’ championship by 6 points (7 actually), hopefully we can continue to score points and why not finish ahead of them at the end of the season, explains Alguersuari.
The goal of the young Spaniard is not unattainable because, in the last five races, Alguersuari and Buemi have scored 12 points between them compared to only 5 points by Kobayashi and Perez. It remains to be seen which car, between the STR6 and the C30, will perform better on the final five tracks of the season.
The Catalan driver also stated that he had no fear of going to Japan despite the incident that occurred at the Fukushima nuclear plant seven months ago.
