Senna is confident for Singapore
Bruno Senna, back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car since the Belgian Grand Prix, seems confident for the rest of the season.

The Brazilian driver will start his third race at the wheel of the Lotus-Renault GP, replacing Nick Heidfeld. After two satisfactory Grand Prix that have boosted the team’s morale and confirmed his participation in the championship until the end of the season, Senna can rely on these good performances to approach the Singapore Grand Prix with confidence: “I feel better and better in the car and within the team. There are still several areas where I need to improve. I need to increase my technical knowledge of the R31 and, in terms of my driving, some areas still need to be refined. I’m certainly not at 100% yet. I’m gathering all the information I can each weekend and hope we can continue to score points and qualify in the top ten.”
This speech obviously contrasts with the gloom displayed mid-season by Eric Boullier and his team, who, after an euphoric start to the year marked by two consecutive podiums by Petrov and Heidfeld, had slowed down.
The freshness and enthusiasm of Bruno Senna have boosted the morale of the entire team as they prepare to head to Singapore with increased ambitions. The Brazilian driver even displays a beautiful optimism: “I will approach this weekend with a similar method to that of Monza, by running as much as possible during the free practice sessions, which will hopefully help me reach Q3 afterwards. We should be familiar names in Q3 every Saturday afternoon. I hope to bring more points to the team as soon as I get used to the car.”
The peculiarities of the circuit and the fact that the race takes place at night do not seem to impress him much: « Singapore is a demanding circuit. It has so many turns, and you have to be on high alert to avoid the slightest mistake. It demands the best from every driver. Setting up the car is not easy either. It’s also physically tough because the atmosphere is very humid, and the track requires precision turn after turn. When driving at night, you notice the mix of light and shadow areas, and it takes a little time to get used to it. As with the Malaysian GP, Singapore requires arriving a bit earlier to acclimate. That said, the team will stay on British time because of the weekend’s schedule. »
In anticipation of a contract renewal for the 2012 season, Bruno Senna is taking full advantage of his position to demonstrate the extent of his knowledge and remains confident while trying to deliver good results for his team. An additional element of response will be added this weekend to Eric Boullier’s considerations regarding his driver duo for the next season.
