Felipe Drugovich, Aston Martin reserve driver, participated in a private testing session at Monza yesterday, in the rain. The Brazilian had already had the opportunity to drive the green car on this circuit on September 1st, during the first free practice session of the Italian Grand Prix, replacing Lance Stroll.

Private tests have been prohibited in Formula 1 for many years, except with cars that are two years old or older. Therefore, Felipe Drugovich is entitled to drive the AMR 21 during private tests, such as in Silverstone last April. Unlike the British circuit, the F2 2022 champion had to drive on a wet track, as he showed on his Instagram account.

These tests allow for correlation with CFD studies and track analysis on specific parts. Aerodynamics can be extrapolated to an older race car, under certain conditions.

As a reminder during pre-season testing in Bahrain, Drugovich drove the AMR 23, replacing Lance Stroll who injured his wrist after a fall while cycling during the offseason.
