The two Toro Rosso drivers, Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi, have been fighting since the start of the season to save their place within the Faenza team.

Their ultimate ambition was also to join, as early as 2012, the big sister Red Bull to participate in the championship with a single-seater capable of winning races. The recent renewal of Mark Webber’s contract with the Austrian team for 2012 shatters their hopes of changing the scenery next season.

Alguersuari does not hesitate to express his disappointment by criticizing Webber’s performances: «If I were regularly half a second behind my teammate, I would already be out the door. I am very happy at Toro Rosso, but I want to be in a team that wins races.»

The Spanish driver also has his opinion on Sebastian Vettel’s domination this season: «He has the car that allows him to take poles and win all the races…»

Jaime Alguersuari seems to forget, however, that in 2008, Vettel made a name for himself by winning his first race with Toro Rosso, at Monza. Certainly, at that time, the team benefited from the technological input of Red Bull and often found itself ahead of them. But Vettel’s performance left a lasting impression… a path to follow for Alguersuari and Buemi, in search of a better seat.
