Sunday: Rather Encouraging Result for Virgin
Even though only one car finished the race, with Jérôme D'Ambrosio falling victim to a gearbox problem right from the first lap, Virgin is satisfied with this result, but especially with the fact that Timo Glock was able to compete with the Team Lotus for a long time.

Timo Glock – 15th
The race was okay, even though the car was a bit difficult to drive, which is a bit disappointing after yesterday’s qualifying. Over the weekend, we definitely made a step forward. The car was better, but we need to understand why the car wasn’t as good in the race and see how we need to develop the package for Singapore.
Jérôme D’Ambrosio – Retirement
A really disappointing end to this weekend. I was really looking forward to the race, but during the formation lap, I realized I no longer had second gear. I started, but the car was “undrivable,” so I had to return to the garage and retire. It’s really a shame because today’s race seemed tight. We need to move forward and be ready for the next race, as the first signs of improvements have been positive.

« Timo had an absolutely brilliant start and navigated his way through the chaos of the first corner to finish the first lap in 14th position. Unfortunately for him, we didn’t have the pace to keep up with Heikki. We could have pitted a little earlier on the first stop, but overall we didn’t have the pace to stay ahead of Trulli. Beyond that, the important fact is that we are fighting with Team Lotus again, which shows the improvements we have made for this weekend. With Jérôme, it’s really unfortunate that the gearbox had a problem during the warm-up lap. We had no indication of any problem until now, so we are going to review everything and try to understand what happened. We are going to have a very studious week, with half of the team going to conduct aerodynamic tests in Vairano, Italy, on Tuesday and the other half returning to our factories to finalize preparations for the last Grand Prix. The team and the drivers are eager to head to Singapore where, if our simulations are correct, this improvement could bring us gains ».
