Sunday: Liuzzi and HRT made themselves noticed
The small HRT team and its Italian driver Tonio Liuzzi made a name for themselves in the worst possible way by causing a pile-up at the first chicane. Nevertheless, Ricciardo finished the race in 16th place.

Daniel Ricciardo – 16th
The race started in the worst possible way for me because the anti-stall system kicked in. I got stuck in 3rd gear and then the engine cut out completely. I couldn’t get going again, and they had to push my car back to the pits. Everything seemed fine, but suddenly my engine’s temperature increased, and I had to wait in the pits to check it. The race was tough, there was a lot of traffic, but during my second stint, I managed to put in some interesting laps and gather quite a bit of data, which is always something…
Vitantonio Liuzzi – Retirement
I was really looking forward to participating in my home Grand Prix even though I knew it was going to be quite tough. I made an excellent start by passing two Virgins and the Lotuses, but my last overtaking attempt went wrong. I drove onto the grass, tried to slow down but completely lost control of the car and collided with other competitors. I am truly sorry for Rosberg and Petrov and the other drivers who had to retire because of me.
Colin Kolles – Team Principal
It’s a weekend to forget after losing both our cars before the first corner. We knew Monza would be a difficult race but we had everything in place for it to go well. It’s a shame for our two drivers… we’re looking forward to the Singapore race.
