Sunday: Scuderia Toro Rosso shines at Monza
For its home race, the Italian team delivered a great performance by placing its two drivers, Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi, in the top 10 and scoring important points for the constructors' championship.
Jaime Alguersuari – 7th
I’m very happy with my race today. I think I should start even further back next time because it seems that every time I have a poor grid position, I finish in the points! I’m also very pleased for the team, as both cars are in the points. I’m a bit surprised by how much the car’s performance improved today because I didn’t expect to be faster than Force India and Sauber. Achieving this great result for our home race makes it even more special. We need to keep working like this and try to improve our performance in qualifying. If we do that, I think we can finish in the points regularly.
Sébastien Buemi – 10th
« I am a bit disappointed with how the race went. I had a very good start, but an HRT caused a pile-up, I got hit on the rear of my car and it damaged it, as the car didn’t deliver its maximum potential. If that hadn’t happened, maybe I would have finished ninth or eighth. But tenth is a bit disappointing. I lost my battle against Senna who was on soft tires while I was on mediums. It’s time to look ahead and think about doing better in two weeks in Singapore ».

« Our home race always appears as an opportunity for us because we regularly finish in the points at Monza. Jaime’s seventh place is the best result of his career and it’s the team’s best result this season. It’s a good overall result as both our cars are in the points, with Sebastien Buemi crossing the line in tenth position. The points obtained today allow us to close the gap to Force India and Sauber in the Constructors’ Championship. Jaime had an excellent race, gaining eleven places. He was particularly fast on the second set of tires, posting the fastest laps one after another. Sebastien is lucky to finish the race after being involved in a collision. Well done to the entire team, who put together a good strategy and executed it beautifully during the race. It’s a good way to end the European season, and I am looking forward to seeing if we can continue like this in the remaining six races ».
