Saturday: Satisfaction and Frustration for Virgin
The two Virgin drivers qualified ahead of the HRTs, so the objective is achieved. However, Timo Glock, hampered by DRS issues in qualifying, was hoping for better.
Timo Glock – 23rd and 21st
A really disappointing qualifying for me. We had problems with the rear wing that stayed open and wouldn’t close. We had never had this type of problem before and everything was working well yesterday. We absolutely need to fix this issue because it’s not very comfortable to drive in these conditions. It was very frustrating because we were very close to Kovalainen today. Without this problem, who knows what we could have done?
Jérôme d’Ambrosio – 21st and 22nd
I had a good qualifying today and I’m quite happy about it. I think it was quite complicated trying to get a bit of slipstream on the fast lap because there was a lot of traffic on the track. But I felt very comfortable in the car and I am very satisfied. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race, it promises to be very close.

The mechanics had a big job to do this morning on Jérôme’s single-seater to install the latest upgrades. Consequently, it was very interesting to have Jérôme’s feedback during the third free practice session. Both cars made a real step forward. Unfortunately, we had a DRS problem on Timo’s car, which cost him a lot of time.
Our drivers must now focus on the race that promises to be exciting.
