Friday: Force India needs to work on its speed

Fairly well placed this morning, the Force India cars fell back into the pack this afternoon and will have to work to improve the top speed of the VJM04.

Adrian Sutil – 5th and 12th

« Two fairly simple sessions for me. The car had a bit of oversteer this morning, especially in the Parabolica, but the overall feeling was rather good nonetheless. During the afternoon, I was very happy with the aerodynamic balance, but we will need to explore all options tonight to ensure we make the right downforce choices for the race. We don’t seem particularly competitive on the timesheet today, so it’s clear that we will need to think about our approach for tomorrow. As for the tires, things look rather good. I did long stints on both mediums and softs, and both compounds lasted quite a while, so we aren’t too concerned about that.

Paul di Resta – non-participation and 13th

« Monza is not the easiest circuit. There are a lot of heavy braking zones and it took me some time to find my rhythm this afternoon. Otherwise, it’s a typical Friday without any issues. We obviously focused on finding the best aerodynamic balance and worked on the car’s stability under braking. What we have is a good starting base and we are not too far off, but once we have studied all the data, we will have a better idea of where we can improve for tomorrow. It is also clear that we need to find speed because the times in the middle of the classification are very tight ».
