Adrian Sutil wishes to continue with Force India in 2012

Even though some rumors suggest he could move to Williams next year, Adrian Sutil says he is satisfied with his results at Force India and intends to continue with the Silverstone team.

Rumors of a departure followed Nico Hülkenberg’s expressed ambitions to regain a race seat next year. Given that Paul di Resta is backed by Mercedes, the team’s engine supplier, his position was almost guaranteed. Especially since he managed to perform on par with his teammate, finishing ahead of him seven times in the challenging exercise of qualifying.

If he knows that all the spots among the top teams are taken, his only prospect for change would be to move to another mid-field team. Yet, even there, the spots are scarce and thus expensive: the two Sauber drivers have already been confirmed, and those of Toro Rosso will be part of the Red Bull pool. As for Lotus Renault GP, Vitaly Petrov is assured a spot as he has a contract for 2012, and the second seat will likely be occupied either by Robert Kubica if he is recovered, or by Romain Grosjean. Bruno Senna is also a serious contender if he manages to prove himself by the end of this season.

But the German has a big advantage compared to some other drivers, namely that he has many sponsors (Medion, Capri Sun…) ready to secure his future at the top of the F1 world. He could therefore drop his bags in Grove, where Williams wouldn’t turn down an additional source of income in place of Rubens Barrichello.

However, the native of Stanberg prefers to stay within his current structure, as he revealed to the official F1 website: “That’s what Formula One is like. It’s a very fast and tough business. I am happy at Force India, and it would be great to re-sign with them. I am very motivated for the rest of the season and will do my best. In this sport, there are a lot of criticisms and pressure, and you need to know how to handle it. If you succeed, you’re a hero. If not, you’re a zero. It’s important not to read everything that’s written about you in the press. I have confidence in myself and absolutely no doubt that I will overcome this difficult time. I am thrilled to have more confidence in the car, and it shows.”

Indeed, after a difficult start to the season with only two points in the first five races, Adrian Sutil managed to turn things around by scoring 14 points in the last three races.
