Vettel remains aware that the title is not yet secured

Even though he appears to be a notch above his rivals since the start of the season, Sebastian Vettel keeps his feet on the ground and remains aware that nothing is settled yet in the fight for the world championship title.

Sebastian Vettel has a good lead in the drivers’ championship, 92 points ahead of the second in the standings, who is none other than his teammate at Red Bull Racing, Mark Webber. But even though the German driver seems almost untouchable since the start of the season, he is not resting on his laurels and remains convinced that nothing is decided for the title.

“I know that we are in a good position, but the championship remains open, and we must stay focused and pay attention to the smallest details and make sure we get the best out of ourselves and the car at every race,” Sebastian Vettel said.

«It will be the same here (in Monza), it’s a circuit that might not suit our cars as well as the other tracks, but nothing is decided yet, so tomorrow will be important, and maybe we’ll have a chance to win. I think that must be our goal.»

And even though Vettel could, from an accounting standpoint and considering his lead, win his second Formula 1 world championship as early as the Singapore Grand Prix, he’s not thinking about it yet. All that matters to him at the moment is to take each race one at a time and always do his best every weekend.

If it’s not possible (to win), it would be foolish to do everything to make it happen anyway. But as far as the championship is concerned, we are in an excellent position, and we have worked very hard and made few mistakes so far, and I think we deserve to be in this position, but that doesn’t guarantee that everything will go well in the upcoming races, added the German driver.
