Hamilton would love to win the Italian Grand Prix

What better way to bounce back than by winning, that's what Lewis Hamilton hopes to do this weekend in Monza after retiring in Belgium last week.

Lewis Hamilton retired from the last race at Spa-Francorchamps after a collision with Kamui Kobayashi’s Sauber. The McLaren driver accepted his share of the responsibility and quickly moved on from his mishap to focus on the next race, which will take place at Monza.

The British driver hopes to be able to join the battle for victory. Last season, the Silver Arrows seemed competitive in Italy, and Hamilton in particular, who had won at Spa, but he ultimately had to retire after colliding with Felipe Massa early in the race. This season, Hamilton retired at Spa following a collision, and he hopes to reverse the events of 2010 and win at Monza.

Last year, I won at Spa and failed to finish the race at Monza. This year, I would like to reverse that sequence! I have already forgotten my retirement and I am really looking forward to racing in Italy, a place where I spent a lot of time karting: it’s a country I love. I’m approaching this weekend with a lot of optimism. I have never won at Monza and would love to achieve a good result this year, confided the 2008 world champion.

Hamilton is particularly looking forward to the qualifying session to get the most out of his car, especially by using his adjustable rear wing (DRS) as often as possible, which he believes should allow the drivers to achieve much faster times than those that will be recorded on Sunday during the race.

«For the race, we will also need aerodynamic support because we also need to have enough speed for the second Lesmo and the Parabolica to have a chance to fight for a position at the end of the straight. I think everything is ready for a tight battle in the race – and I’m looking forward to that very much,» added Hamilton.
