Sunday: Liuzzi the only one to reach the finish for HRT

« We knew the race would be complicated, especially on dry conditions, but I got a good start and gained a few positions quite quickly. We were ahead of our main rivals, and even though we knew our race pace wasn’t the best, we were fighting. I think we did a very good job, especially in the first part of the race. We improved our settings and race pace compared to Friday’s session, which was also on dry conditions. But we still have work to do to prove that we can progress until the end of the season. The next race, in Monza, will be special for me because I will be racing at home, so I’m very excited. We will have to work hard this week because it’s a very technical circuit ».

Daniel Ricciardo – retirement

I cannot be fully satisfied because it was quite a short race for me, but in the end, my time on the track was rather positive. I had a good start and, benefiting from several incidents ahead and making the right choices, I was able to gain a few positions. The pace was pretty good; some faster cars eventually caught up with us, but we let them pass without losing too much time to our main rivals. It was going pretty well in front of the Virgins and Team Lotus. Unfortunately, we had a problem with the rear, which prematurely ended the race. But there is no doubt that there are positives to take away. It would have been great to finish, but that will be for next time. On my side, I am happy with how the race was going and I will build on that for the next Grand Prix in Monza.

« It was a weekend where we had to be strong to face all the problems encountered. We knew Spa would be difficult. We would have liked both cars to finish the race, but that wasn’t the case. It’s really unfortunate that Daniel had to retire for the first time in his F1 career and we now have to work very hard to solve the problems. Let’s wait and see Monza, which requires a different aerodynamic setup ».
