Saturday: Rosberg happy, Schumacher philosophical
The Mercedes GP are in their place, behind the Top 6, and hope to maintain these positions in the race and perhaps take advantage of some mistakes ahead. For Schumacher, the car remains largely improvable.
Nico Rosberg – 7th
Qualifying in seventh position is a good thing today; we had some good setups after this morning’s session, and I had a good lap in Q3. I’m happy to have saved a set of new super-soft tires for the race, which should allow me to score big points.
Michael Schumacher – 9th
« The positive thing I can take away from my qualification today is that I will start on the right side of the track tomorrow. Despite that, there are things we need to look into, such as the first two sectors which weren’t good for us today. They were fine with the soft tires but not with the super-softs, so we need to understand why. As always, we will try to give our best for tomorrow’s race ».
Ross Brawn
« A good qualifying session for us today. Nico and Michael got the most out of the car. Our position reflects where we are at the moment. During the free practice session this morning, we focused on our race performance, and it could pay off tomorrow afternoon. It will probably be a close race with the super-soft tires at the limit, so we will need to pay attention to that and make the most of it ».
