Barrichello ready to negotiate with Williams
Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello has stated that he is ready to discuss his future with his current team, Williams.

It is well known that the summer period is conducive to contract negotiations. After statements from Team Lotus boss, Tony Fernandes, regarding a possible extension for Jarno Trulli in 2012, it’s another veteran of the pack, Rubens Barrichello, with over 300 Grand Prix races under his belt, who would like to continue the adventure with the legendary Williams team, to be powered by Renault starting next year.
Adam Parr, sporting director of Williams, recently stated that he would like to keep his driver duo for the 2012 season. « We had an email exchange with Adam in this regard, in which we expressed that we would discuss it again. I am waiting on this. We are starting with the same basic contract as this year. It shouldn’t take too long to discuss. I am just very happy to continue driving. I need nothing else to be satisfied, » explains Barrichello, whose motivation remains intact after 313 Grand Prix starts.
Barrichello also says he is much more relaxed than during the Honda/Brawn transition period at the end of 2008, where he was not sure of keeping his seat. « Currently, I am at a stage in my career where I take a lot of pleasure because I don’t have the pressure like during the 2008/2009 period where I waited several months without driving. What I have always wanted in Formula 1 is a competitive car that would allow me, with my experience and knowledge, to win races and the championship. »
The optimism of the Brazilian, at over 38 years of age, will surely be a significant asset in discussions regarding his contract extension. Pastor Maldonado, who has pleasantly surprised the team with his speed, even though he hasn’t yet delivered in races, should also be part of the team in 2012.
