She won the very first edition of the F1 Academy and it is logical that her place is made in motorsport: Marta Garcia, the young 23-year-old Spaniard, has won, in addition to her title, a place in the Alpine European Regional Formula (FRECA).

The FOM had decided to do even more to promote the place of women in single-seaters instead of the very ephemeral W Series (which stopped due to lack of funding).

Marta Garcia will join the Prema stables and this time, it will be in the deep end with her male counterparts. « I cannot thank the F1 Academy enough for what it has allowed me to do » in fact, the Dénia native said. « It’s a fantastic initiative and everything is well orchestrated (…). I can’t wait to be there and see the work that awaits us, on and off the track. »

Lower costs

Marta Garcia’s progression to a higher division, such as the FRECA, was financially secured by the F1 Academy, as a reward for the title won in the women’s category.

The accession fees to the F1 Academy were 150,000 euros this year. The next exercise, still in a desire to promote and enhance accessibility for female drivers, will cost less for participants: “only” 100,000 euros will be required to get in.

Susie Wolff, the CEO of the F1 Academy, is ambitious on this path. « We are building our future, with the 2024 season ahead. Our championship will be alongside that of F1 and the reduction in entry fees is part of our work: that of removing the obstacles faced by female drivers today. »
