Trusting the 20th and 21st positions during free practice, the two Virgin drivers had good tests and hope to confirm tomorrow in qualifying.

Timo Glock – 21st and 20th

« It was a studious Friday, especially this afternoon. We carried out the normal program and everything is going well for now. The tires seem a bit different but the rest is OK. I think we collected good information on the stints intended to gauge the aerodynamics this morning and which, hopefully, will give us the direction to follow in the future. So far, so good ».

Jérôme D’Ambrosio – 20th and 21st

« I think it was a good day today. We drove smoothly, following the program, which was great. We focused on long runs during the second free practice session and gathered data for the race. I am looking forward to tomorrow, we have a good starting point ».

John Booth

« Overall, we are satisfied with how the two free practice sessions went. In general, we seem to be in a better position than in Canada – perhaps even better than in Monaco – so we will approach the rest of the weekend positively. With the absence of private testing during the season, Fridays have become more important than ever, and we use the first part of FP1 to collect good aerodynamic data for the rear wing, which will help us make better decisions in the future. This afternoon, despite Jérôme using the option tire quite early, he did a good lap and made good progress thanks to his tire data collection program, which will be vital for Sunday. With Timo, we focused on the setup, particularly trying different solutions for the exhausts. We will study the data tonight and use it to optimize the settings on both cars for tomorrow. »
