Sunday: Two points for Williams

Rubens Barrichello – 9th

« After starting 16th, I am happy to have managed to score points for the team. Unfortunately, I could have scored more, but I lost a potential 6th or 7th place when I left the racing line to avoid Kobayashi when the last safety car came in. He took risks overtaking a backmarker and went off, and when he came back on track, he didn’t see that I was there. I had to move aside and lost positions. It’s unfortunate, but it’s still a nice reward to score those two points. »

Pastor Maldonado – Retirement

« It was a tough race for me. I had a bit of oversteer at the beginning and the car was difficult to drive. When the race restarted, the car was better on the intermediate tires and even better on slicks. Then there was another safety car. When it went in, Kobayashi made a mistake at the first corner, Rosberg braked hard in front of me, and I hit him. My front wing was broken, and I had to pit. After that, I just spun on the wet part. »

« After such an eventful race, it is good to score two points. The first safety car compromised our decision to put intermediate tires on both cars. After the long race interruption, the calls to switch to intermediates and slicks were good, and we had the means to place both cars in the points. But then we had some problems at the restart which made us fall back in the ranks ».
