Sunday: Historic Result for HRT
After a well-conducted race, the HRT team achieved the best result since their arrival in F1 in 2010.
Vitantonio Liuzzi – 13th
It was a crazy race. But the craziest part is that we loved it. It’s an excellent result for us, for everyone on the team, because we gave it our all since Saturday when we put in a great performance in qualifying. In these kinds of situations, you have to be in the right place at the right time. We made the right decisions, and the team did a perfect job during the pit stops. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but it’s an excellent starting point for the future.
The improvements made here helped, but in these kinds of conditions, it’s more a matter of timing and changing tires at the right moment. The pit stops were good, everything went well.
It’s a great feeling to overtake other cars, we always try to fight against our closest rivals, but this race was crazy because we were able to overtake cars faster. All we had to do was drive properly and control the car. It’s always a great feeling when you drive cleanly.
We achieved our best result of the season, which is excellent for the team. We hope this won’t be our best result of the season, we hope to finish even better in the future and we will do everything to make it happen.
Narain Karthikeyan – 14th
« It was a very interesting race for us, we achieved our best ranking so far. I drove well today, whether the conditions were wet or dry. I would have liked to stay on track a little longer with the last set of intermediates; I passed Tonio with them so maybe I could have secured my position if I had stayed one more lap.
For an unknown reason, I did not receive a call to inform me that we were switching to slicks, so in my mind, I thought I was still on intermediates. When I left the pits, I realized they were slicks, but it was too late because I was on the wet part of the track, and the car was sliding a lot, which made me lose many positions. But apart from that, it was an enjoyable race; I overtook a few cars, D’Ambrosio and Glock, and I am very happy to finish the race.
