Lewis Hamilton apologizes for his remarks
Lewis Hamilton went to discuss with the stewards following his statements made after the Monaco race.

The McLaren driver, rather on edge after the penalties he received during the Monaco Grand Prix, had said when speaking about his frequent summons by the race stewards: “Maybe it’s because I’m black, as Ali G. used to say, I don’t know.”
Hamilton was referring to the fictional character played by British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.
Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren’s sporting director, admitted that the stewards had agreed to let his driver explain his remarks to them.
« Lewis was very disappointed after the Grand Prix. He made those stupid remarks during a post-race conference. However, I can tell you that he chose to return to the track to explain himself to the stewards who agreed to listen to him. »
Hamilton stated after the interview that the stewards had accepted his apologies.
« I went there to make peace. They accepted my explanations and understood me. They wished me the best for the rest of the season »
McLaren’s boss justifies his driver’s attitude due to a very frustrating Grand Prix:
« He had a very frustrating race. The reality in Monaco is such that if you don’t start at the front of the grid, you have to take risks to overtake and gain positions. Lewis is an attacker, he never gives up. »
Finally, Lewis somewhat regrets his remarks:
« Should I have said that or not? I tried to be funny, but actually it wasn’t… »
Now, the debate is open about whether Hamilton is overdoing it… he won’t be long in providing new answers at the Canadian Grand Prix in two weeks…
