Haug is aware of Mercedes’ difficulties
The Mercedes team is aware of the work that remains to be done to catch up with McLaren and Red Bull. Finishing the race a lap down from the leaders in Spain clearly demonstrated their current lack of competitiveness.

Norbert Haug clearly expresses the current problems of the team, particularly in terms of pure performance:
«We have reached the positions we hoped for in Spain and that is positive. But we clearly need to have more speed. »
The attack plan is very clear for Mercedes:
«Our first task must be to check if we have extracted all the potential from the car in Spain. I think there’s more in the car, and there are specific races, like Turkey and China in particular, where we found ourselves very competitive compared to the competition.»
Haug continues to support and encourage his team to go in the right direction.
Ross Brawn is someone very experienced, and we have a completely dedicated team that works very hard to improve things. I think we have good chances of reaching our goal this season.
The boss of the German firm is very enthusiastic about returning to Monaco where their cars performed well last year:
«We were seriously fast in Monaco last year. Nico Rosberg had good times in practice. The driver can make the difference on this circuit, we have a good chance.»
The short wheelbase of the Mercedes, which provides an advantage on winding tracks, might just prove Norbert Haug right.
