Barrichello ready to put his address book at Williams’ service
Rubens Barrichello is far from pleased with his team's start to the season. To bring about changes and secure a true leader, he is ready to call on his connections in the paddock to bring them to Grove.

For the Brazilian veteran, the key can only come from true leadership that drives the whole team in the right direction, as he states to Autosport: «We are missing something. We need to face the problems. It’s a good thing that some of the best people are seeing what is happening because Sam will give 100% until the end, but we need a leader. Right now, it’s almost as if we have too many but not enough at the same time. A lot of people are trying to say something but, in the end, that’s not the goal. They need to focus on what they are doing.»
It must be said that the Paulista has seen it all over his 19 seasons in F1, where he raced for the biggest teams (Jordan, Stewart, Ferrari, Honda, Brawn before joining Williams). He therefore has extensive connections in the paddock and is ready to ask them to come help at Williams. «I can potentially recruit more people, look at other teams. I’m one of the top 10 in the paddock and I’ve stayed the longest. I know a few people, and I’m calling them. The engineering is good, but we need to focus on development and fix the issues because right now, we go from race to race, but is the problem solved? We’ve had our KERS issue since the first race, and we’re still struggling. »
The team’s ability to change the course of its season will be crucial for the Brazilian’s future within it. Williams must improve significantly if we want to have a deal for next year. Things aren’t moving much. It’s not worth continuing like this. I am at the peak of my performance and I’m happy about it. But having said that, I need the team to start moving and I need to see differences, declares Barrichello.
We will see if the changes implemented (departure of Sam Michael and Jon Tomlinson at the end of the season, arrival of Mike Coughlan) will change the situation and if it will give the Brazilian the desire to continue the adventure.
