Jaguar will build the C-X75 with Williams
New milestone in Williams' life: the Grove team takes the first step towards vehicle manufacturing, as it will be heavily involved in the development and construction of the Jaguar C-X75 hybrid.

This is therefore the most emblematic realization of the diversification strategy implemented by a team that is suffering greatly from the departure of numerous sponsors upon their arrival. Additional sources of income have thus become essential, which led Williams to enlist the services of a brand management specialist, Interbrand.
If license agreements have been made with companies like Sainsbury and Powerplate or in golf clubs, the agreement made with Porsche was much more in line with its core business since it’s Williams that provides the KERS for the competitive Porsche GT3 R Hybrid. Williams is thus making another step to becoming a full-fledged automobile manufacturer with this technical cooperation agreement with a brand as prestigious as Jaguar.
The agreement stipulates that the F1 team will once again provide its KERS as the C-X75 aims to be one of the most eco-friendly cars with emissions of only 99 grams of CO2 per 100 kilometers while delivering 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds. This is made possible by the addition of a powerful electric motor on each axle, which will also be supplied by Frank Williams’ team.
This explains the new partnership: «Our new association with Jaguar Land Rover offers us a very exciting opportunity to work with one of the most famous and prestigious automotive brands in the world. Williams has always considered itself an engineering company. Therefore, this is a project that will allow us to leverage our technical expertise to create something truly exceptional.»
We cannot, however, say that Williams is venturing into industrial construction since only 250 units of this car, costing over a million euros, will be produced. Nevertheless, it represents a major advancement for the company, reflected in the recruitment of Paul Newsome as the director of high-performance vehicles, which could mean that the team plans to extend this kind of partnership to other manufacturers and other exceptional vehicles.
We can thus recall that McLaren had initially started with a collaboration with Mercedes for the construction of the legendary McLaren F1 road car before venturing alone into supercar construction with the launch of the MP4-12C.
