The Indian Grand Prix hopes to record 23 million euros in ticket sales
Ticket sales are the only source of revenue that Bernie Ecclestone leaves to Grand Prix organizers. Therefore, it constitutes a vital source of income, particularly for events not supported by their government. While sales for the Indian Grand Prix will not start until June, Jaypee Sports hopes to generate no less than 23 million euros from it.

However, the organizers hope to reach this amount by relying more on a large turnout than on high sale prices. Thus, even if the prices have not been definitively decided yet, it would be possible to find tickets starting from €38 for a ticket valid for all three days of competition, a figure that would leave more than one European fan dreaming.
If a large turnout is desired, the organizers promise that there will be no riots during the ticket sales, as had been the case during the ticket sales for the last Cricket World Cup. But it must be said that this sport is almost a religion in the Indian subcontinent, whereas F1 is far from having the same audience, despite the presence of Force India and Narain Karthikeyan.
Ashish Hemrajani, the founder of Bigtree Entertainment, which owns Bookmyshow.com, the exclusive ticketing platform for the event, stated: « Technology and experience are our backbone, and the entire ticket purchasing process will be extremely user-friendly for a fan anywhere in the world. For us, it is important that the user experience for spectators is world-class in all areas. We are confident that we are capable of providing services that not only meet our expectations but also those of all F1 fans in India and around the world. »
To encourage the sale of the 110,000 available tickets, the Internet will of course be a major axis of communication and commercialization, but Bookmyshow.com has also developed applications for the two largest mobile operating systems, Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS, a further sign of the emergence of this type of technology.
Furthermore, the organizers announced the official name of the circuit: it will be the Buddh International Circuit in tribute to the Gautam Buddh Nagar district where it is located. The initials (BIC) will therefore be the same as Bahrain, which will certainly not be returning to the calendar this year (or in the years to come).
