Hamilton: “I learned a lot about Max’s car”
If Lewis Hamilton was not able to threaten Max Verstappen, he took advantage of being close to him to learn more about the operation of the Red Bull.

Lewis Hamilton doubly benefited from the fight before the first bend between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. Not only did he manage to take second place but it also gave him the opportunity to observe the behavior of Max Verstappen’s single-seater since he remained in the DRS bubble (less than a second) for several laps.
At the time of the press conference, the seven-time world champion revealed that this had given him valuable information: « As soon as I got out of the DRS, he flew off. But before that, I was able to observe him and see how his car behaves. The way it reacts in bends, that kind of thing. The least we could say is that we all have a lot of work to catch up. » He obviously didn’t want to say more and Max Verstappen played the humor card: « He tried to slip a USB key on my car! »
When asked if he had been happy to see Charles Leclerc get a bit stuck at the first bend, he reacted by saying: « I didn’t see it! I was busy watching a McLaren (Editor’s note: That of Lando Norris) because I didn’t want to repeat what happened to me at the previous Grand Prix », thus referring to the collision with his teammate in Qatar.
