Chandhok, reserve driver for the Lotus team
Karun Chandhok has joined Team Lotus as a reserve driver for 2011. His duties will begin in Australia this weekend as he takes to the track during the free practice sessions.
The Indian, who raced the first half of last season for HRT, had been in talks with the Lotus team for several weeks now. He has only just finalized his contract in the last few days. He might participate in races as his role as official reserve driver allows and will also take part in a number of testing sessions.
« I spoke with the team for a good while about a role with them and I am delighted to be able to confirm that I will drive for Team Lotus in 2011, » said Chandhok. « For more details, I will be in the car for testing after spending time within this team. I need to realize beforehand how everyone at Lotus is on a war footing for a return to the forefront in F1. »
