After the announcement of the signing of Vitantonio Liuzzi as the second driver yesterday, HRT today announced that it has reached an agreement with Panda Security regarding the security of its IT infrastructure.
HRT is not the first team to announce such an agreement with a company specialized in this field. Ferrari, for example, partnered with the famous Russian antivirus Kaspersky during the 2010 season, and the agreement was extended for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
This partnership immediately takes the form of sponsorship from the Spanish multinational in order to lighten the bill that would be paid by the smallest Formula 1 team. Thus, it is possible that Panda Security will provide its expertise for free in exchange for a presence on the race car and on the team’s communication materials.
The solution offered by Panda Security includes the protection of computer servers, professional emails, and the company’s Internet traffic on its premises, as well as on laptops across the globe during the 2011 season. Being specialized in cloud computing, Panda Security will also handle the management and maintenance of the network while monitoring the racing team’s security in real-time.
For Jose Ramon Carabantes, this agreement will certainly help us achieve one of our goals: to promote Spain all over the world through the platform provided by Formula 1.
