Last October, Bernie Ecclestone clearly indicated that an agreement had been reached, despite some questions raised by the telecommunications operator regarding the invoice to be paid (estimated between 10 and 15 million dollars per year).
The announcement will therefore have been made official on the day the first tickets go on sale for the race that is scheduled to take place in the city-state over the weekend of September 23-25.
If the company has linked its name to the first night race in Formula 1 history, it also intends to achieve other firsts more closely related to its economic activity. Thus, it will offer an exclusive broadcasting platform to its customers: they will be able to watch the race either on television on ESPN Star Sports, but also online or on their mobile phone.
Chua Sock Koong, CEO of SingTel, stated: “We are now in our fourth year of partnership, and we will continue to achieve extraordinary things at record speed to provide the best for our customers in Singapore and around the world. This will also be the year where we create many firsts to bring the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix experience to life, which we hope will impress Singaporeans and visitors, whether they are big fans of the sport or not.”
The program of festivities during this event also includes a concert by the famous rock band, Linkin Park.
