In the last two months, Sauber has been signing and extending sponsorships and partnerships. Today, the Swiss team has sealed a deal with the Asian private jet company Asia Jet to have its logo displayed on the rear wing of the cars for all APEC Grand Prix races as well as in India.

Thus, the airline only wishes to communicate about the market in which it is situated. This is why it focuses solely on certain races in the 2011 calendar: Australia, Canada, China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore. It has also added India to this list as it presents a significant growth opportunity.

Focusing on slightly more than half of the events allows the company to secure a prime spot on the cars of Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez. The nationality of the two drivers is once again not unrelated to the team’s appeal for sponsors, as stated by Mike Walsh, CEO of Asia Jet: “We are really looking forward to supporting Sauber Motorsport. With Kamui Kobayashi, who is already a well-known name in Asia, and the new Mexican recruit Sergio Perez, we expect to reach new heights together both on the track and in the sky through this collaboration.”

From Sauber’s perspective, the sales pitch remains that of a marketing and communication platform, as Peter Sauber acknowledges: « As Formula 1 becomes increasingly popular in Asia with a growing number of races held there, we see Formula 1 as an ideal marketing platform for Asia Jet.»
