The new Lotus TL128 was unveiled this morning online in the English team’s magazine.

The second of the name of the new Lotus era was also built by Mike Gascoyne but features an entirely original design. Less sharp than the previous version, more studied, the TL128 also has a unique engine cover and air intake.

The R&D staff, aerodynamics, and chassis construction teams all participated in this launch. Mike Gascoyne, the technical director, has high ambitions for this new Formula 1: « I believe this new car is a pioneer in every field and has the tools to compete alongside the top teams as soon as possible. We had stated early on that this was our project, and I believe it will now be achievable. »

Team director, Tony Fernandes is happy to focus on racing rather than the sidelines; Team Lotus recently won its lawsuit to retain the Lotus name for its Formula 1 team, despite objections from the brand.

« There has been a lot of noise lately outside of the circuits. It’s good to talk about racing again. The launch of the T128 is a big step forward for Team Lotus and I want to thank the whole team for this hard work. I also want to particularly thank Renault and Red Bull Technology for their support.

Indeed, it is worth noting the significant presence of Renault as an engine supplier since a large part of the engine hood space is reserved for this advertiser and engine manufacturer, adding further confusion about the reality of the Lotus Renault GP team and its difference from Team Lotus – Renault.
