The Campos Meta team will ultimately race this season under the name HRT F1 – Hispania Racing F1 Team – following the acquisition of the team by Jose Ramon Carabante last month. The decision was announced this Wednesday morning. Another important fact is that the new team will be presented in Murcia, Spain, this Thursday.

HRT is expected to confirm Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok as its race drivers, as well as Jose Maria Lopez as the test driver. The agreement between the two parties is currently being finalized.

The founder of the team Adrian Campos, who sold his shares to Carabante last month, will remain on board with probably the title of executive vice president.

Hispania Racing, named after one of Carabante’s companies, has stated that it will continue to carry out its project to build its base in Murcia. However, it is also planned to operate from the Campos factory in Alicante during the interim period.

The team will be led by Colin Kolles, appointed as team principal and general manager: « The name of the new team signifies a rebirth of our ambitions in F1 and highlights the incredible effort made behind the scenes to ensure we are present in Bahrain on March 14, » Kolles said today.

« We will be a new team in the paddock, and we will be very proud to stand alongside legendary names such as Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, and Lotus. We hope to build our own reputation in the years to come. »
