FIA President Jean Todt wishes to continue developing the idea of a license for team officials in Formula 1 in the wake of the Renault scandal. With the bans from all motorsport being overturned by French courts for Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds, Todt claims that measures will be taken in response to the issue.
Speaking to the Gazzetta dello Sport on the subject, Jean Todt stated: « The Tribunal de Grande Instance decided that we were wrong on the form but not on the substance. There was indisputable fact and there was evidence. So much so that there was only one vote against during the world council. I will propose that team directors also have a license. »
Todt also indicated that he intended to run for only one term as president of the FIA after admitting that Max Mosley’s reign lasted too long: “He’s a friend,” said the Frenchman of Mosley. “He did a great job on safety: No one has died in F1 since Ayrton Senna and Felipe Massa is back racing.”
« Everyone has their own style: 16 years at the helm, that’s crazy. No, I will serve only one term; otherwise, I wouldn’t have time to do other things. »
