Pedro de la Rosa has hinted that he might reduce his involvement with the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers’ Association) now that he has secured a racing seat. The Spaniard, who was a test driver at McLaren for seven years, became the president of this organization two years ago and has held the position since then.
However, he is now returning to race for BMW-Sauber and he thinks he will not have enough time to do his job properly within the GPDA: “I don’t know yet. I haven’t made a decision,” he told journalists at the Valencia circuit. “We need to talk among the members of the GPDA.”
« Obviously, for me it will be much more difficult to take on the role of president, as I won’t be able to dedicate as much time to it. So it’s something I need to discuss with the board and the various members. My personal opinion is that we need someone who is fully involved and committed. When I was a test driver, it was easy, now it’s much more complicated, so I will discuss it with them first. »
