In addition to its German event just a week ago, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled, this time, the real W01 that will be on track in the coming days in Valencia for the first winter tests. The German automaker had only revealed the colors of its car in Stuttgart last week. Additional time was needed to unveil the single-seater that will carry the title hopes of Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.
The nose is similar to that of the RBR5 from Red Bull Racing, but we also find a small fin on the engine cover.
Rosberg completed the shakedown yesterday morning with the same car. Schumacher also made his return to a contemporary F1 car. The Valencia tests bring together seven of the nine teams from last year still in competition. Only Red Bull Racing and Force India are missing. These teams have chosen not to participate in this first test week in order to allow more preparation time for 2010.
