Adrian Campos, director of the eponymous team, assures that preparations for the 2010 season are well underway despite the doubts of Bernie Ecclestone, director of FOM. The latter stated to the Times earlier this week that he wasn’t sure all the new teams would be on the grid in Bahrain. He was particularly targeting USF1 and Campos Meta.

However, Campos insisted that he is not only on the right track, but he is more determined than ever.

According to a statement released by the team: « We have worked extremely hard over the past few weeks to achieve our goals. We have suffered from the FIA regulation changes, but despite these difficulties, we never considered the option of withdrawing our entry into the championship. »

« Our project is solid and always has been. We confirm that we will be in Bahrain next March and of course in Abu Dhabi in November. »

Adrian Campos added: « With an investment of 12 million euros, no one is thinking of leaving, quite the opposite. We meet all the technical requirements set by the FIA to achieve our goal. »

Campos remains hopeful of confirming new sponsors very soon. The single-seater built by Dallara has already passed some homologation tests.

The director of sporting activities at USF1, Peter Windsor, also spoke out. He too insists that there is no doubt about his team being on the grid in Bahrain at the start of the 2010 season.

« I am surprised that Bernie said that. We will be there. We are on track, » said Windsor on BBC Sport about the remarks by Formula 1’s major financier. « Everything is going well and we are looking forward to this new year. We have just finished the chassis which is now in the hands of Cosworth. »

The team made in USA is the only one among the new entrants that has not yet signed a driver for its first season. Windsor promised an announcement during the latter part of January: « We are trying to find the best drivers, there is no rush. We don’t have a date for the car launch. It is even difficult to predict this date. However, there will be a moment when we announce the drivers at the factory. It will be towards the end of January. »
