Ferrari has finally caught up with some of its rivals by unveiling its new Formula 1 simulator in Maranello. Although a number of other F1 teams have used simulators to enhance their competitiveness in recent years, Ferrari had not made use of this type of facility.
However, after two years of development in cooperation with Moog, Ferrari’s own simulator is officially operational at its Italian base.
The director of the Ferrari team, Stefano Domenicali stated: « It’s an important day for us. With the completion of this project, we are able to confidently tackle some of the challenges that define modern times in Formula 1. Ferrari will therefore be at the forefront of technology. »
« Furthermore, I am happy that such a complex project, which began two years ago, has been completed. Thank you for all the efforts of those who worked on it. »
The simulator is installed in a two-story building, which includes both the composite structure of the car and the control room. The driver sits in front of five screens, providing him with a view of over 180 degrees. Andrea Bertolini was the first person to try out the new simulator at the launch ceremony.
