The Ferrari team has implemented a new initiative aimed at finding and helping young drivers who are particularly motivated to race in Formula 1. The program, known as the ‘Ferrari Driver Academy’, will see a group of selected drivers being supported throughout their career, not only in racing but also in their personal and professional development.

The Ferrari engineer and former strategist Luca Baldisserri will be the man in charge of managing this project, in which the Italian motor sport authority, ACI-CSAI, will be a significant contributor.

The Formula 3 Euro Series champion, Jules Bianchi, was the first driver selected for this program. The Frenchman had already tested for the team in Jerez earlier this month.

« This program has a very clear objective: To help young drivers develop to the point where, one day perhaps, they will become Ferrari drivers in the Formula 1 World Championship, » said Ferrari team boss, Stefano Domenicali. « We plan to have an original approach covering all angles so that they are best prepared for the challenges of modern motorsport. »
