Lotus will reveal the names of its drivers on Monday

The new Formula 1 team, Lotus will unveil the identity of its 2010 drivers on Monday. The team manager, Tony Fernandes, revealed via his Twitter account that the two seats had been allocated and that the announcement was imminent.

« The two drivers of the Lotus team. Announcement on Monday, » wrote Fernandes.

According to the latest information, former Toyota driver Jarno Trulli is reportedly very close to securing one of the two seats. The Italian veteran has long been associated with the Lotus project after working with the team’s technical director Mike Gascoyne at Jordan, Renault, and Toyota.

The second place would likely be contested between Heikki Kovalainen and Takuma Sato. The former McLaren driver is on the transfer market after losing his seat to world champion Jenson Button. As for Sato, he has worked hard in recent months to make his return to F1 after being left out by Super Aguri at the start of 2008. The Japanese driver tested for Toro Rosso last winter, but the team ultimately decided to keep Sébastien Bourdais for that position.

The Malaysian from Formula Renault 3.5, Fairuz Fauzy, could secure a position as the third driver with Lotus, but there are also speculations about a race seat. Answer on Monday…
