Virgin Racing will officially announce its plans for the 2010 season next Tuesday, December 15th. The Manor Grand Prix team has yet to confirm its name change to Virgin Racing, despite being listed as such on the entry list released by the FIA last week.
Richard Branson’s company started in Formula 1 as a sponsor of the Brawn team in 2009, but has recently been associated with a larger role with Manor GP.
The team will use a chassis created by Nick Wirth, the renowned designer for former teams such as Simtek and Benetton. His company, ‘Wirth Research,’ also designed the Acura LMP cars.
Timo Glock has already been confirmed as the first driver for the Virgin team for 2010. A statement released by Virgin acknowledged that this situation is shrouded in the utmost secrecy in motor racing, and confirmed that Branson and the Virgin Racing management will make an announcement about the new team on Tuesday.
